Food is Medicine Class Brings Flavor, Skills, and Connection to Willard

Willard Community Center recently hosted an engaging Food Is Medicine class led by chef Nazim Khan, bringing participants together to learn practical cooking skills while enjoying nutritious, flavorful food.

During this session, Chef Nazim guided attendees through the preparation of a Cajun Shrimp, Kale, and Sorghum Risotto, sharing helpful tips on seasoning, ingredient substitutions, and ways to build bold flavor while keeping meals healthy. Participants enjoyed a tasting of the finished dish and left with new ideas they could easily recreate at home.

The Food Is Medicine series is designed to show how thoughtful cooking and simple ingredients can support overall health and well-being, while also creating opportunities for learning and community connection.

Community members are invited to join the next class on January 15 from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM, where Chef Nazim will demonstrate how to make Falafel with Tzatziki Sauce. All are welcome to attend and take part in this hands-on, educational, and delicious experience.

We look forward to continuing this series and welcoming both new and returning participants to future sessions.

Thank you to Bryan Heath for giving us the opportunity to host these classes!
