Kids at Willard Over Thanksgiving Break

Activities during Thanksgiving Break

Willard was filled with kids during the Thanksgiving break November 27th and December 2nd.  Around fifty kids attended each day and had many activities to keep them occupied.

The day before Thanksgiving the kids were asked to write and draw their favorite holiday recipe.  Kids were reminded to write down what ingredients they would need, how long to cook their food and etc.  As you can imagine, they were pretty interesting recipes.

The same day kids also made a wreath of things that they were thankful for and made holiday cards that were sent to service members who cannot spend the holiday with their families.

On Monday, December 2nd the kids’ day was also filled with fun activities and sixty degree weather!  Even though snowflakes were nowhere in sight, the kids made snowflakes from beads and pipe cleaners and asked to write a story of where their snowflake was going to go.  Snowflakes were traveling all over the world, including New York City, Grand Island, France, Omaha and etc, what great imaginations!

The kids also made snowflake hand prints using white paint.

Teri, 4-H extension assistant came to talk to the 4th and 5th graders about recycling. The kids made holiday cards using recycled cards that Teri brought in. The kids did a great job being creative and making new cards for their families.
