High Five to Willard Community Center

In Lieu of the 16th Annual Kenny & Pam Gardner Golf Tournament

  Dear Friends of the Kenny and Pam Gardner Memorial “It Was Fun” Golf Tournament,

 

    The 16th Annual Kenny and Pam Gardner “It Was Fun!” Memorial Golf Tournament is canceled this year due to the uncertainty of COVID-19. This doesn’t change the fact that Willard Community Center still needs your support or that Kenny and Pam would still want you to have fun with this tournament. We won’t be able to provide you with a great day of golf with your friends, chances to win raffle and silent auction prizes but you will still have the opportunity to help keep the children and families of the Willard Community Center out of the ruff and straight on the fairway. We are asking you to give us your best long bomb, heat seeking drive in the form of a donation. There will be no hazards here and you won’t be needing any mulligans to hit a Hole in One for the Willard Community Center Child Care Programs. The Willard Community Center has been working diligently to keep our doors open and staff employed to provide safe and quality licensed child care for our families. However, in the wake of COVID-19, the number of families that need care has decreased significantly. As we have seen across many industries, rebuilding has been slow. Many of our parents continue to work from home or, unfortunately, lost employment. In summary, enrollment went from 283 children in our Pre-School, Pre-K, and Before and After School Programs to only 25 the week of March 30. This enrollment number grew to 49 the week of May 11. Of the 49 children enrolled from March-May, 63% or 31 of those children received Title XX subsidy or Lincoln Littles program service fee assistance, which covers 54% of actual program costs. When comparing the current year through June 30 to last year for the same period, our total childcare revenue is down $108,357 in program fees alone. This year we are asking you to consider the same donation amount as you have done in previous years or what you think you would have donated this year. For every donation, just for fun, we will send you a child decorated hand print that you can use to give a high five to Willard Community Center and tag us on Facebook. The more high fives the better, rally your friends to give too! We will be collecting donations throughout the month of September and having a Facebook event during the first week of October, which would normally be our tournament time. There are many ways that you can get your hand print and help support the programs and services at the Willard Community Center. Please see attached form for suggestions. Get your team of friends together to help us continue to provide the safe and quality care for children that families can always depend on. Now more than ever your donation will help us to provide child care for essential workers and allow children to be in a familiar environment with caring adults. Kenny and Pam had a warm spot in their hearts for the children at the Willard Community Center and we hope that you do too.
