Lakeview Pumpkin Walk

Lakeview Pumpkin Walk

Lakeview Elementary and the Lakeview CLC held its annual Pumpkin Walk on October 10th.  The event gathered 233 parents, students and community members.   Lakeview families were invited to get in the family exercise habit by walking a mile (four times around the school on the sidewalks).

All Lakeview students that participated received a free pumpkin from the CLC and all walkers were given an apple for a tasty, nutritious snack.  The PTO also sold hotdogs, chips and water to help fund new playground equipment.

Families were also encouraged to visit the following health and safety professionals who volunteered their time and knowledge:

Coddington Dental brought flyers and a large set of display teeth.  The Dentists used the set of teeth to show the children and families how to properly clean your teeth.  The children were offered toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Lincoln Internal Medicine brought fun x-rays for the families and kids to look at and ask questions.

Lincoln Police and Fire Department brought out a squad car and fire truck.  The kids were able to go inside both vehicles to touch buttons and turn on the sirens.

Vasek Family Dentistry also brought in flyers for the kids and families about healthy dental hygiene and gave away toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Bryan Heart had the diagnostic imaging bus that kids were able to walk through and see the insides of their bodies at work!

City Councilman Doug Emery and Eric Weber, Associate Superintendent for Human Resources at LPS were also along to join in the fun and walk a mile around the school.

Thank you for all those who participated and volunteered in the Pumpkin Walk this year!
